Yesterday was full of skin discoveries for me. If you saw my stories, I was tinkering with a skin analyzer that I recently purchased. When I did my routine, I used the analyzer after each step and the device would read consistent improvement. After 9 hours, I used the skin analyzer again and I was baffled that it showed super low levels of moisture, oil and softness when my skin felt and looked its normal state, in all its oily glory.
I repeated the test several times, thinking that there must be an error but it was showing the same results, more or less. So I used a hydrating mist to see if that would change anything and it did! That lead me to think that my skin must be dehydrated. I read up and found out that oily skin doesn’t equate to hydration and that using too much chemical exfoliators, among other factors, can lead to skin dehydration. And I’ve been using BHA daily for about 2 weeks! 😳
⠀
So I’ve decided to stop using BHA for the meantime and focus on hydration. I opened a new product, the #Missha Near Skin Total Ceramide Cream which helps strengthen the skin barrier that has become rough due to dryness and damage. It also has PHA that helps retain moisture while gently exfoliating. ⠀
Sharing my first impressions: I really like the texture. At first I was worried that it would be too heavy but it just feels right on the skin. It’s a bit thick but not overly moisturizing, just comfortable. My skin felt nourished and soft. It also has a demi matte finish (which I really appreciate) and it doesn’t have any detectable scent. When I woke up this morning, my skin still looked and felt nourished. And when I used the skin analyzer to check, all levels did go down but not as low as the 9-hours-after test I did yesterday. So that means it is retaining moisture! 😊 so far, I’m really liking this moisturizer. Will keep using it and test my skin also. Hopefully I get better results with continued use.
Do you use ceramides as well?
